The Graduate ELL & ITA Program offers one-on-one academic consultations, called Studios, to advanced graduate students, visiting scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and junior faculty who seek assistance in developing their English research writing and oral communication skills.
Our experienced faculty provide individualized feedback on major writing projects, including research papers, essays, lab reports, theses, dissertations, conference proposals, and articles for publication, among other writing genres. Our faculty also provide individualized assistance with major oral communication tasks, such as conference presentations.
Studios are structured as non-credit courses with a great amount of flexibility in scheduling and pacing to best meet the scholarly and professional goals of the individual writer.
Non-native English-speaking graduate students interested in Studio should register for one of the following courses (to focus on primarily writing or communication):
Note: Studios are not an editing service. We do not proofread papers. We focus on higher-order issues like argument, flow of ideas, organization, and work with sources. We will help you to identify major sentence-level and grammatical issues that impede meaning and will help you self-correct your own work.
